Planting Trees, Planting Hope

30 trees planted · 23 November 2025

In our first year, Etuko Safaris joined Treescape Planet Organization and Christ the King High School in Bweya, Entebbe, to plant 30 trees.

The trees planted were mainly avocado, mango and jackfruit, alongside native Musizi (Maesopsis eminii) and Musambya (Markhamia lutea), as well as the introduced species Grevillea robusta.

The partner’s activity report records 45 students and teachers taking part. Students helped prepare planting holes, plant seedlings and water the trees, with teachers providing guidance—bringing environmental care into practical, everyday learning.

For us, meaningful journeys also mean contributing to the places and communities that make Uganda special. As these trees grow, they can absorb carbon dioxide and contribute to greener landscapes. Their long-term benefit depends on surviving and thriving; carbon removal has not yet been measured.

Growing beyond planting day

A recent visit to some of the planting areas brought encouraging reports of healthy-looking growth. These follow-up photographs, shared in October 2026, show several young trees establishing. They offer a glimpse of progress at the sites visited.
